Who bakes
Recipes that crossed the sea from Chile.
My name is Jocelyn. I learned to make hojarasca in Santiago, watching my mom in the kitchen, and when I moved to California I brought her recipes with me, along with the house rule that nobody leaves without trying something.
The first thing I baked here was a lemon pie, and it’s still on the menu. Today I bake to order, one cake at a time: for Sunday dinner, a birthday, or a “so glad you’re here.”
